Profile
Humorist Mike Redmond is a Hoosier through and through. That’s not a bad
thing. A native of Peru, Indiana, he spent his childhood in Indianapolis and,
after a brief period in Washington, DC, on the LaGrange County farm he calls
home – even though he lives in a city. Go figure!
Mike is the author of Six of One, Half-Dozen of Another (Guild Press,
2002), and the forthcoming The Night The Wheels Fell Off (Emmis Books).
He also has book deals for Daddy-O and Work and Other Annoyances, and he has an
untitled cookbook in the works.
He formerly was the humor columnist for The Indianapolis Star, for which he
wrote three times a week from 1995 to 2003. His column twice was recognized for
excellence by the American Association of Sunday and Features Editors, and in
2001 was named Best General Column among large newspapers by the Hoosier State
Press Association.
In addition to his freelance newspaper work, he has been a commentator on the
CBS News program, “Up To The Minute” and on Indianapolis television station WTHR
Channel 13. He also writes for Indianapolis Woman magazine, Indianapolis Monthly
magazine and several suburban publications.
An accomplished musician and songwriter, Mike lives in historic downtown
Indianapolis in a 107-year-old house with his wife, daughter, dog, three cats
and a large collection of toy tractors.
He has spoken to groups and at events ranging from 5 to 1,500+ audience
members. It’s no secret: Mike Redmond is a VERY funny man. Besides, he was
first-runner-up in the Cub Scout Pack 132 Halloween Costume Contest in 1963.
Actually, that remains his proudest achievement.

Keynote topics
Mike works hard to apply his brand of humor to the occasion. For that reason,
he has no “canned” presentation. Everything is crafted for each event from the
ground up. Whether it is current events, motivational humor, humor in the
workplace or any customer-requested issue/topic, he inspires audience
interaction, and leaves ’em laughing.
